A map in CrossFire is often played in several modes. Some modes use their own version of a map (different spawns, lighting or a remade layout), which is why you will see names such as New Ship or Black Widow 2.0 beside the original.

Maps ship inside the client as LithTech world files (.DAT) packed in .REZ archives. The OpenCF desktop app can open them; see Game files
